Once again I have been overwhelmed by the craziness of my schedule and have forgotten to update here as frequently as I should have been. As a result, SO MUCH has happened that I get to try to cram into this one update!
I suppose I'll start where I last left off... At the beginning of March I had the honor of premiering the final scene from Jason Mulligan's opera "Through the Looking-Glass" as a part of the New American Voices Concert Series in both Miami, Florida and New York City! It was a truly incredible experience and I look forward to continuing to be a part of this project. While in NYC I also had the opportunity to sing for David Del Tredici, so that happened. (NAV recordings to come very soon!)
As soon as I returned home I jumped right into crazy prep mode for my Dallas premier concert of Jason Mulligan's The Masque of the Red Death. The weeks leading up to the concert were completely insane but all the work we put into it was worth it! The response we got to the performance was so overwhelmingly positive I was blow away! Our second performance at the Peabody Conservatory was equally successful and I couldn't be more excited to record the piece this summer for our album release! Videos of the entire Dallas Concert can be seen here. (More details on the CD will be available soon.)
The moment I returned from Baltimore I began rehearsal for SMU's last Opera Free For All of the year and at the end of the performance I was honored as one of this years two recipients of the Roy and Sue Johnson Opera Theater Award! And now I finally have a short moment to breathe. But not for long! I have been hired to sing the role of Bastienne in The Dallas Opera's new Outreach production of Mozart's Bastien und Bastienne!! For the entire 2015/2016 school year I will be touring the DFW area and performing in schools! I am beyond excited to be a part of this amazing program and I can't wait to start rehearsing!
Well I think we're caught up for now! Below is the video of our premier of Masque.
